Court, it is hereby certified by the Fauquier County Court, having probate

jurisdiction, that William Edwards, a Private in Captain James Payne's

Company of Volunteer Riflemen in the War of 1812, died intestate on or about

January 20, 1852

Bushrod P. Edwards, William A. Edwards and Francis Weaver, the wife of Jacob

P. Weaver, are the only children and heirs of William Edwards, all of whom

are over 21.

Notes for BENJAMIN H. EDWARDS, JR:

At the recording of the 1850 Census Benjamin was declared as 53 years old, however

records indicate he died in 1856 at age 66. By the census account he should have

been 59 in 1856. These age differences are troubling.

Reading the Census of 1850 there was a Hannah Bird - Black 16 years old, listed on the

Census Report. My Guess is she boarded and worked as a house servant on the farm.

I have documentation for Inman. Taken from his pension application dated April 27, 1891.

He served from beginning to end of the Civil War. He served in I Co. 11th Virginia Infantry,

Kemper's Brigade, Pickett's Division.

On or about July 2nd 1863 at the battle of Gettysburg he received a mini ball on top of the head which fractured hisskull which resulted in intense pain and at times rendered him unable to do work of any kind. Signed, his mark, Inman R. Edwards

Residing in Morrisville, Fauquier County. Certified by Judge E. M. Spilman, County Judge.

Written and submitted by County Clerk R. H. Donnerman.
