At this time he is listed as 38 years old.  Rosa is 26, Blanche is 10, Nellie is 6,

Lewis is 5, Lucy is 3 1/2, and Helen is 1 1/2.  Census taken in the month of June, 1920.

 

I detected an age problem with Watson.  He was reported  to have died when he was 88 years old.  Mathematically he should have been 85 in his 86th year at the time of death.  This also corresponds to the Census Report of 1920.  38 in his 39th year.  That would verify 1879 as a correct birth year.[RectorFamily.FTW]

I found a news article of a program given in 1906 in Caroline County.  It was in memory of the Southern Soldiers from  Caroline Co. who fought in the Civil War.  I noticed a key speaker for the day was the then Governor of Virginia Claude A. Swanson.  I truly believe our Claude Pitts was named for this Virginia Governor.

Claude S. Pitts was killed by a hit and run driver on Rte 2&17 in Caroline county while walking. He was only 26 years old.   The driver was never discovered.
